What is the cost to replace head gasket in 2002 buick century custom?

What will be total cost for head gasket replacement in 2002 buick centry custom car with 120000 miles on odometer?

Some one is selling this car and mentioned head gasket may need to replacement.

What are the signs in car when some one can say head gasket needs to be replaced?|||BE VERY VERY VERY CAREFUL!!!

It is hard to know who to trust these days. Everyone always says its just a head gasket that needs replaced when it is actually the head itself that will need work.

When you start the vehicle does it run rough? Is there blue smoke coming out of the exhaust? If so be careful.

For OEM parts I like to use www.partstrain.com

I have used them for many repairs.|||Best advice for you here is to not buy the car. Head gasket replacement gets expensive. Depending on how long the head gasket has had a problem is really going to tell you the cost. Usually when I do a cylinder head job I replace the following: head gaskets, upper %26amp; lower intake manifold gaskets, exhaust manifold gaskets, valve cover gaskets, head bolts, thermostat, change engine oil and filter, flush engine coolant. Also, most of the time the cylinder heads themselves have to be sent to a machine shop to be decked and have the valves cleaned and checked. The machine shop will also flow check the head for any leaks and replace valve seats, seals, springs, and keepers as necessary.

Usually when a car (especially a Buick with a 3.1 V6) has a blown head gasket, most noticeably it will overheat. You may also see oil in the coolant reservoir or coolant mixed in with you engine oil (pull the dipstick, if the oil looks like chocolate milk then there is water mixed in to it). The car could also blow a lot of smoke out of the tailpipe (white usually), misfire, run poorly etc. If the seller is mentioning that the head gasket "might" have to be changed, then most likely they already know it NEEDS to be changed and don't have the money to do it. Like I said, my best advice would be not to buy this car. The fix will be expensive and thats just the engine! What if it had other problems? Cut bait and run from this one!|||I wish you would say which engine is this this car! There has been a HUGE lawsuit pending against GM for it's poor design of INTAKE MANIFOLDS and GASKETS. When Dex-Cool is used, a chemical reaction takes place over time and destroys the nylon and other materials in the INTAKE SYSTEM. GM has been counting on the fact that these problems develop AFTER the factory warranty is up. You can check out things on the "GM LAWSUIT" web-site. Anyways, the chances of your engine having this problem are REAL. the chances of having a bad head or head gasket only occurs if the engine overheats from living through the FIRST problem (intake system). If and when you repair this problem, do yourself a BIG favor. Have your cooling system totally flushed out and use Mercedes Benz coolant. It is tried and true and will prevent further occurrences of this problem. Good Luck!!
