How do I get a smoother ride on my 2003 Buick Le Sabre?

Recently purchased a 2003 Buick Le Sabre Limited with 56,000 miles. There is a slight vibration at higher speeds. Dealer replaced the tires and that didn't help. Had tires rebalanced by my mechanic and that didn't help. Tires are Japanese and I suspect cheaper tires. Could that be the problem. Mechanic did check the ball joints and didn't find a problem there. How do I resolve my problem? Anyone out there who can help??? Thank you.|||-Allignment

-shocks/struts

-could be the cheap tires

-talk to dealer and explain to them they sold you a less than perfect car|||Touring tires offer a smoother ride.|||it could also be a bent rim |||get yourself a good set of tires. i know on my oldsmobile when i bought it, the tires on it i had to drive around about 1/2 day to get them warmed up so they would ride good.|||You probably need new stabilizer bushings along with newer shocks or struts. If you replace the shocks and struts make sure they are the gas ones. They last longer and give you a better ride. The tires should be radials and inflated to specs for the best ride possible.

How long does a buick last compaired to a volvo?

I am looking into buying a car a volvo 1998 S70 or a Buick 1996 regal which one will last longer and give me more car for my money?|||My family has extensive experience with Volvos. My mother has a 16-year-old 240 that's still going strong with no signs of stopping, and I have a 13-year-old 940. I've had some problems with the 940, but I bought it used, so I have a feeling that it's more to do with the previous owner than the car itself.

Volvos do require a little more maintenance than some other cars, but they will live forever. Aside from that, they're veritable tanks. As a new driver, I've visited quite a bit of abuse on my car, and it's lived through all of it - even a collision (more of a love tap really...) with my garage door frame that would have cleaved the fender off of some other cars.

I personally would reccomend the Volvo, because of the strength of the body, the longevity of the car, and the excellent safety record. Just make sure you find a mechanic that you trust - preferably one that specializes in Volvos or other Swedish cars - and keep up with regular maintenance.|||Buicks have a vey long life and a high reliability rating. Volvo does also. GM vehicles do have a tendency to leak oil, and so I would go with the Volvo.|||Modern cars have a long life span comared to vehicles built 15 or 20 years ago. The key is keeping up on the maintenance. Perform oil changes and manufacturer-specified maintenance at the defined intervals, and the car will last a long time. If you invest the time and money to replace parts as they wear, a car will last indefinitely. As far as initial quality is concerned, Volovo has earned higher marks than GM as of late. However, the Buick will be easier to find parts for if it does break down. I would call it a toss-up. Personally, I would go with the S70 because it has a little more personality than the Regal. That's just my opinion, though.

How do I remove the rear speakers on a Buick Regal 01?

One of my rear speakers is blown in my 2001 Buick Regal. I want to replace it, but I don't want to pay Best Buy $75 to put them in. Does anybody know how to take them out? THE MORE DETAILED, THE BETTER!|||if you mean the pair in the rear window

go into the trunk

the speakers are held in by very simple spring clips

squeeze the clip handle and carefully swing

the hanger out of the way so as not to drop the speaker

unplug the wire connector

if you are installing other than original replacement parts

then you might need to modify the connector

especially with aftermarket speakers

to install , reverse the procedure

if wiring needs to be modified

then pay close attention to what color went on what terminal

if wires get crossed sound will be poor|||In addition to the post above - try to solder connections if you can. If you can't solder, see if you have a friend who can, otherwise at least use crimp on connectors. Nothing worse than having loose wires and risking shorting the circuit.

What GM Body parts are compatible to my 93 Buick Park Ave?

Somebody hit my car in the parking lot of the Supermarket. I'm on a very fixed income so I will do the repairs myself (via Pick-A-Part). Problem is there is not too many 93 Buick Park Avenue Ultra Super Charged. So, if anybody can tell me what or where I can find a list of cars that have the same body style parts like I know the La Sabre but not sure if all body parts or what years. I need hood, headlamp, grill and probably side markers too.

Thank You.|||For any questions that you have regarding interchangeable parts and which parts will fit which different vehicles, talk to the folks at your local wrecking yard.

Most wrecking yards are networked with many others across the U.S. and can order most any part you need. They can usually have the part for you within a couple days.

They also have access to all the interchangeability data you could possibly ever need right at their fingertips.

They'll give you accurate information and in just a few minutes.|||where do you live? here in PA we have what you call ( you-pull-it ) it,s a junk yard you can take the parts off what you need and they are cheaper then a ordinary junk yard. all you do when you go there is ask for a price sheet on cars.

How do i change the radio in a 1997 buick skylark?

i want to change the radio in a 1997 buick skylark. How does the old unit come out?|||well, you gotta take the dashboard apart , the screws are located in many parts of the dash , if you are putting in a new head unit that has no plugs , you need to pull out the old unit , it may be screwed in thanks to GM's theft protection , you need to cut the plugs off the ends , and connect the wires m the red and yellow wire on your head unit are your positive wire (red) and your memory cord , just connect both of them to your power wire , connect your ground wire (black) and plug in your antenna , after that you have nothing but speaker wires you connect then in sets like front left is one set with 2 wires and all the others are the same , after you strip and connect your positive and memory cords cap them off to prevent shorts , and connect your black ground wire to the black wire in the dash and cap it off as well , after you connect your speaker wires you need to either tape them or cap them , don't leave any bare wire showing , put your unit back in the dash put your screws in put the dash back together and your ready to go !! Good luck if you need any help contact me through messenger and i will guide you|||by taking it out and puting a new one in

How can I read the codes on a 1995 Buick Le Sabre?

I have a 1995 Buick Le Sabre that the check engine light is on. The local part stores say they can not read it because it is not 1996 or newer. How can I read the codes myself the local shop wants $100 for this and I can not afford that right now. The car cranks and runs fine but I need it to pass emissions and it won't if the check engine light is on.|||I don't think you can for pre 96 model cars. Does anyone know where I can find a fuse box diagram anywhere for a 2001 Buick Century?

So, I left my lights on in my 2001 Buick Century Limited and the battery died. I jump started it and it should do fine since the battery is fairly new, however when the car started the clock said "loc". Now i can't fix the time and the radio does not work. I bought this as a used car so it came with no user manual. Does anyone know how to fix this? Or where to find a fuse box diagram of the car?|||This is not a fuse problem. You will have to check your owners manual for a code to unlock the radio, or go to your dealer with the VIN, and they should be able to help you. Do not try to enter random numbers, some radios only allow so many tries before it is locked until a dealer services it.

How to take the serpentine belt off of a Buick?

I have taken them off other cars but can't seem to be able to find how the idler releases. This is a 1998 Buick Lesabre with a 3.8 V6. Also what's up with the bolt on the idler I can't get a metric or standard wrench to fit on it. What I am trying to do is change to altenator.

I am getting ready to buy a 1985 Buick Skylark and was wondering if that is a good choice?

I am getting ready to buy a 1985 Buick Skylark that has a 2.8 liter V6 for $300 that was owned buy a 86 year old elderly person. What are the torque specs of a 98 Buick Century?

I need to know the torque specifications on the caliper bolt of a 1998 Buick Century. I can't seem to find the information anywhere, nor a guide to replace the front brakes and rotors.|||50 foot pounds is more than adequate if you coat the threads with Never Seize.|||well i dont think there is a specific torque for the slide bolt just get it tight so it wont back out and changing disc brake pads is easy just take the cal loose and use a clamp to press the piston back in using to old pad to press against and replace the pads like they were and put the cal back on if you are worried about the backflow of brake fluid you can open the bleeder while pressing the piston back in once you get it all back together you should start the vehicle and press the brakes a few times untill they stiffen back up and be sure to check the fluid level as it will have changed from the pressing of he pistons and bleeding and repressurizing the caliper|||Honestly, ask any tech that and you will get this answer. "It's tight". Most just zap them in with an air ratchet or gun, or just crank down on them with a socket and ratchet.

Otherwise a GM service manual or possibly a Haynes manual on the car (around $20.00 at most auto parts stores) may have it.

The Haynes manual will give you step by step instructions, and photos.

Piece of cake to do it. Take you time and do one side at a time, so you can look at the other side if need be. Make sure you use the new spring/rubbers etc that may come with your pads. And don't forget the silencer glue for them.|||Tighten the caliper bolts to 85 Nm (63 ft lbs)

Where is the thermostat housing on a 2002 buick century custom?

My 2002 Buick Century custom has been overheating after about 5 min of the car being on, I am sure it is the thermostat but where is it.|||If you have the 3100 engine, the thermostat is below the throttle body where the upper radiator hose is going. If you have the 3800 engine,it is toward the front of the car from the throttle body where the upper radiator hose is. One note is,no engine overheats in 5 minutes. The coolant will not get hot enough in 5 minutes to be able to open the thermostat. I would bet you have a head gasket problem. Most likely it would be the rear head gasket pumping cylinder pressure and heat into the coolant.

How many oxygen sensors are in a 04 Buick park Ave ultra? and where?

I took my car to AutoZone because I had the Service Engine Light on. They told me that an oxygen sensor had no activity. So I looked under the hood and under the car and only found two sensors. Autozone told me that there were four. 2 upstream and 2 downstream. Buick sure hid them well. Does any one know where the other 2 are?|||If you have dual exhaust, there can be up to 4, depending. If there are, you will find one fore and aft of the catalytic converter, on both sides.

Keep in mind that AutoZone only does the scan in an attempt to sell parts, and that it's only as good as the person who does it.

If you have the scan done by your own mechanic, they can pinpoint which one (if any) is bad.

You'll get something like this: P0140 O2 Sensor Circuit No Activity Detected (Bank 1 Sensor 2), which tells you drivers side, aft of the converter.

And it could be your 04 only has two, I don't have the book in front of me at the moment, but your own mechanic will know when you go see him to get it scanned.|||How can they tell if a sensor had no activity. Those cheap code readers they use can't actually tell you that. My guess is if you try to replace one of the sensors you are throwing your money away.

When you get a FREE diagnostic you do get exactly what you pay for.|||The other two will be behind the cat converters...they will be halfway under the car, so I don't believe you will be finding them with a quick peek.

How hard would it be to drop a Grand National Motor into a 1985 Buick Lesabre?

I understand that anything is possible these days with automobiles. But I wanted to know what would I have to do (beef up, brace, change over, etc...) if I wanted to put a Grand National Motor into a 1985 Buick Lesabre? Just something different I was thinking about doing. Would the motor bolt right up? What kind of tranmission would I need? Please feel free to elaborate.|||not hard you can drop anything into a buick lesabre|||it should be real easy. it should bolt right up. you wouldn't have to beef up anything.|||would think it should be a pretty easy swap. G/N motor is a 3.8, same as what some Lesabres probably had. I'd think you'd probably want a 700R4 tranny (if it didn't already have it in it already....)|||you have to take off the whole exhaust system, have a engine hoist so you can take out the current engine without your transmission falling right off and you need a transmission jack, then pull out the transmission and then take out the current engine if there is one...|||It should bolt in since the GrandNash platform was similar to the LeSabre then. You may need to find more room for the turbos in the LeSabre, but it should'nt be a big problem. The GrandNash's were all V-6, but a V-8 (not even close to the power of the Nash's 6) was available in the LeSabre. That should'nt be a problem either though.

I have a 1996 Buick Skylark Custom, it is a used vehicle by private owner and came without the radio. We bought a new one and my husband installed it and everything is hooked up per the wiring diagram but it is not getting any power, it wont turn on, NO POWER at all. ALL help appreciated.

thanks|||A car stereo needs two power sources.

One is a constant 12VDC source (to keep the clock settings, radio presets etc).

One is a switched 12VDC source which supplies the main power to to stereo.

Both of these are fused at the fuse box.

Can the 350 V8 from a 1978 Buick be installed into a Chevy of same vintage?

Or is the bolt pattern on the bell housing of the transmission different? I know this was a problem with GM's prior to 1972 (Pontiac Old's could be inter changed). Not sure how far this continued and/or if Buick ever could change with Chevy?|||2 completely different bell housing patterns ..the BOP pattern ( buick olds pontiac ) has only 2 bolts that line up and the engine mount positions are different that pattern stayed that way until GM went corporate in the late 80's or arly 90's|||i'm not positive, but i know that about that time olds used some chevy engines,so my guess is that they will interchange to prevent an assembly line stoppage due to a strike at one of gm's engine plants.|||The answer is yes it will. Just take the frame mounts with the motor mounts and swap them to the Chevy. The bell housings have different bolt patterns but they make an adapter plate to make it work.|||well some of the buick's had chevy motors and others had buick motors. but some could use either because of a brilliant design to the trans, as we have what is known as the universal transmission. the 78 should have that trans from the factory.|||Yes it will work with slight mods, as you have not stated if the eng is buick, chevy olds or pontiac. But it will fit without nightmarish problems.|||Yup most GM are interchangeable|||You have to identify the engine by division not displacement. Chevy, Olds, Pontiac and Buick all built "350" cubic inch V-8s and there were virtually ZERO interchangeable parts between those engines. Your 78 Buick likely already has a Chevy built 350 installed. Yes, you can bolt a Buick Division 350 engine from a LeSabre or Skylark into a Chevelle, Cutlass or LeMans IF you have everything from the donor car. Even the wire harnesses were different! If you look at the engine cross member of a later model "G" body you will see many sets of extra mounting holes for the mount pads of the different engine packages that GM offered at the time. This is the major reason the GM went to using SBC in everything with a V-8, they are cheap and reliable. PLUS, they did not have to build all the different pieces for every car line! The savings was tremendous for GM! You are correct; Buick, Olds and Pontiac use one bolt pattern and Chevy uses its own unique pattern, another reason to standardize engines. Also the SBC was lighter and much more compact than the others as well, so it fit more easily into the smaller downsized cars that GM was shifting to at that time.

The security light is on in my car and the car wont start. BUICK?

The security light is on in my car and the car wont start. Everything else seems ok, the radio and all lights work. Its just that the starter wont roll over. Its a Buick Lesabre 1998.|||This is a common problem in GM vehicles. Gm has been putting an anti theft security system in cars since 1982. The system on your car is call VATS. The idea is that the ignition doesnt just use the key, but reads that little chip in your key also. The starter will not start until the theft deterrent module recieves the proper signal from your key/ignition. This prevents people hot wiring your vehicle and stealing it. The problem being that these system tend to get worn out or fail and then lock you out, thinking you are a theif. Your vehicle has gone into anti theft mode.

Luckily there are ways to beat this system now, and even to beat the system that came after VATS. The next failed system was called Passlock. It didnt work with a chip in the key, but rather a transponder in the key. We can beat those too. Check out this link for just about everything you need to know on the GM SECURITY LIGHT issue.

What engines would be more compatible to swap in my 1986 Buick Regal?

I have a 1986 Buick Regal with the Oldsmobile 5.0L 307 cui engine. The engine doesn't essentially give me enough power I'd like so I'm looking at putting in either a Oldsmobile or Chevy 350, possibly an even larger engine. I'm well aware of the differences between the 2 makes of engines (power wise and their design) but overall which choice would be the most compatible with my Regal, or should I look for something a little bigger or smaller? Hoping to be in the mid to high 300hp range.|||I have a Olds 350 rocket in my 78 Monte. It is really torquey. I've heard the olds blocks have a higher nickel content in them which makes them stronger (which ones, I am not sure, probably the older ones).

It depends on if you want to keep it all olds, or not. The best $$$ spent are usually on a chevy 350. You can make more HP easily with that for less money. It also depends on what bolt pattern your trans. has.

Some have a universal bolt pattern, some don't.|||It depends on what you want...

Do you want it to be just like stock?

Then I'd go with an Oldsmobile, Cadillac, Buick or Pontiac motor. They will all bolt up to your transmission (which I assume is a 2004r).

You could go with a Cadillac pfi 4.9l and swap the intake with a custom cam. An Oldsmobile 350 all the way to an Olds 455 v8. A 3.8l v6 from a mid 90's Camaro or Firebird would also bolt up to your transmission but would require a manifold and distributor swap to work. This would give yo a little better performance then the 307 olds (smog motor).

Better then stock...

You could also go with something like a Cadillac Northstar V8, Tuned Port Injection 305 or 350 v8 or a LT1 from a 1993-1996 Corvette, Camaro, Impala SS, Caprice, Roadmaster or Fleetwood.

Or you can go even further with a 5.3 or 6.0l generation 3 or 4 motor.

All of these will require a lot of wiring, fuel system, transmission and rear end changes.

But will be well worth it in the end.

There are running lights that are on constantly, but I would prefer the headllights.|||You pull the headlamp switch outwards. Like on most cars. One notch for parking lamps and 2 for headlights.|||Absolutly, there should still be a headlight control that is normally in the "auto" position, but can be changed to parking light only or headlights on position. My 2001 Pontiac Grand Am (similar car) has the headlight control integrated with the turn signal lever.|||Turn the Lighting dial all the way to the Right.

How much will it cost to fix my cranckshaft in my buick ?

i have a 1994 buick park ave.its crankshaft is broke.how much will it cost to be replaced?|||it would be cheaper to replace the engine with a used one.|||Much more than replacing the engine.

Does anyone on here own or know anyone who owns a Buick Apollo?

I own a 1973 Buick Apollo, and I've only seen one other one in person.

I just want to know if there is anyone out there who knows what I'm talking about.|||I remember it that was back when Buick was naming their cars after Roman and Greek Gods. I actually owned a 73 Centurion which later became the Lesabre the Apollo was the midsize verison which later became the Regal who also shared the same Body Style with the famous Grand National Series.|||At least some people know what I'm talking about.

How can I Connect a 96 Buick Century stereo to my 80gb Zune. I want to wire it, but if their is another way, i love to hear. I don't want to mess with radio transmitters. I'm willing to disconnect the radio though. Please help. And thank you|||a stock 96 buick your only hope is an fm modulator. About how much would a repair shop charge to replace a front wheel bearing on a 98 buick century?

There is a loud rubbing or growling noise coming from the right front wheel on my 98 Buick century. It sounds like the wheel bearings are bad. The sound goes away completely when i make a right turn, so that is what makes me think it is the right wheel. The sound increases with speed and gets worse every time the car is driven. I want to know about how much I should expect to pay to get the wheel bearings replaced. Please help!|||Cost of the part + approx 3-4 hrs labor. Their may be another charge if the bearing needs to be pressed in. Price for labor will very from shop to shop. But you can expect it to be in the $50-$100 per hour range. They may also recommend an alignment after the job is done.

How much is a 1999 Buick Century fuel pump?

What is the highest I should pay for a fuel pump? Are there any other models that may match a 99 buick century fuel pump. Please list details|||That is an expensive part that will run you $200-$300.

I don't think anything else will interchange, sorry.|||unfortunately your vehicle has what is called a fuel sending module..this means the pump and the sender are all one unit..Now I live in Canada and parts tend to be more expensive up here..i am looking at about 500-600 new ..if you are lucky you might find a used one for much cheaper..that is your option.I am not sure if it is interchangeable with other GM products..I did a quick check and a 99 Grand Prix with a 3.1 litre engine has the same pump..the ACDELCo number is MU232

Where can I find the cigarette lighter socket for 1997 Buick Le Sabre?

I have a 1997 Buick Le Sabre and I can't find the cigarette lighter socket in my car!

Anyone known that please response to me about that!

Thank you so much|||Go to a junkyard or pull-n-pay place and get one. It's cheaper than buying it at Autozone or Advance Discount Auto Parts. But, if you want to spend the extra cash, those places should have brand new ones. And nj2pa2nc, that is actually incorrect. Cars still have them because even if you don't smoke, the 12v cigarette lighter socket is needed to power aplliances, laptops, nav systems, etc. Most cars just don't come with the actual lighter itself or an ashtray. However, these days, you have to pay extra for the "smoker's package" in your new car (ashtray, lighter, etc.)|||In the ashtray.|||most cars no longer have cigarette lighter sockets|||go to any auto parts store they have these in stock all the time they only cost a few bucks ,and are easy to install, advance or auto zone either one has these, good luck,|||Try Ebay or junk yards|||If you want one you can buy the complete unit at autozone and install it, your car probably didn't have one installed at the factory as it is an option now.

How do I fix the electric windows on a 1996 Buick Century?

I use the Buick to go to work so I can save mileage on my good cars, however it I like to roll down

the windows, I wanted to get my windows fixed and they wanted 400.00 dollars each and I thought

that was too much, so I will try to do it my self, so please let me know because I am not a mechanic

but willing to try. Thanks Ed|||they are very easy to repair usually.most cars that have 1 bad switch will not work from either side,so you have a master switch and a secondary switch on the "window door"the master is on your driver door.if you dont have 12 v at the drivers door, then you need a schematic, and then look for a relay(if they all dont work)if you have 12v there, take a new switch and substitute it in the master.if it doesnt work, then install in the slave or secondary switch|||better go to mechanic|||400$ dollar is too much to fix any cosmetic parts like windows.. i would fix it on my own.. do you have tools to fix it /

How to unlock a Buick steering wheel?

The steering wheel of our Buick car is locked so we're unable to turn the key. The wheel will turn just a tiny bit back and forth but it won't come unlocked no matter how much we wiggle it. The key will go in the ignition but won't turn. What to do?|||Check your car key. Does it have an horizontal grove in the very tip of it? If so, it has been worn down enough so that the ignition switch (anti-theft system) thinks you are trying to start the car with the incorrect key. Try lightly tapping the end of the key when it has been inserted in the ignition switch, it might "fool" the system enough so you can start the car.|||If you haven't been able to get your key out yourself take it to a reputable shop so a mechanic can fix it for you. You will probably need a new ignition lock cylinder. Not hard to replace but the steering wheel will have to come off. Since it doesn't work, take some pliers and king kong it out of there. In the lock position. Then try an extra key and see if that works.|||I have a Buick Century. The wheel locks when you get out of the car sometimes. To unlock it, turn the wheel in the direction that moves while simultaneously turning the key.|||Try your "other" key.

That one doesn't work.

What program can edit/change the onboard computer for a buick lesabre?

How much does it cost to change an engine mount and a transmission mount on 1995 buick century, V6, 3.1L?

When should the engine mount and transmission be replaced on a 1995 Buick Century LTD, with a V6 engine (3.1L). Also, is one of the engine mount located on top of the engine and connected to the body of the car on top of the radiator? Also, much does it cost?|||I can't give you an accurate number of how much they cost, and there is no recommended time of replacement. They are replaced on demand/failure. The ones secured over the rad (I call them "dog bones") fail quite frequently and are easy to change. The transmission mount is a little harder to do and is required very seldom. The worst is the one under the front of the engine near the main pulley. All these cost not much, just labor.|||Lab is correct about the dog bones that are up top.The mount near the crank pulley usually needs Replacement due to oil leaking on it and the rubber breaks down. That one the cradle has to come down if not out and should be aligned. You only replace them if needed. If you are having a harsh shift check tranny fluid level. If you can get it to thump when power braking it is usually a mount.Do not power brake for longer than a couple of seconds and don't do it alot.Peace

How to install a new radio in a 1992 buick century?

i have a kenwood stereo and i want to install it into my buick century and i dont know how to?|||If you go to like walmart you can buy this chevy plug in wiring harness that plugs into the factory wiring harness then just wire it up red to red black to black ect. This is funny I had a 94 century one time with to memphis15s in it intill the frame broke|||spend the money and goto Best Buy and have them install it.

They give a lifetime warranty and are certified installers.

They will also take it out for free if you save the paper work when you sell your car.|||Get the wiring harness from wal mart, match up the colors of the new harness and the stereos harness. You also need a dash install kit or whatever you wana call it to mount the radio in the dash. Both items are prolly under 20 bucks together at wal mart.

If the car is anything like the park ave we got its pretty basic to get the radio out, just remove the trim around the heater/ac controls, then remove like 4 screws to remove the trim around the radio and stuff.. Then you can unscrew the radio and pull it out and do as stated above.

How to repair rusted out floor in a 1979 buick regal?

The floor panel/ board in my two door 1979 buick regal is rusted and rooted out, How do I repair it, or where do I go to replace it. Making Repairs?|||First fix the source of the water intrusion. After cleaning off all loose rust, use a couple layers of fiberglass cloth together with liberally applied resin.|||Call or logon to Year One, you have a GM G-body RWD platform that was shared with the Olds Cutlass from the same production run. They should have replacement floor pan kits for this application or they'll be able to tell you where you can find them.

First you need the tools, a wire welder for openers. If you don't know how to use one have this done for you by a competent body tech. Definitely not a task for the novice.

EDIT: When it's in place have both sides undercoated with that roll-on bedliner material so you won't have to do this again. Add that foil-scrim insulating blanket on the inside before you install the carpet and the seats, you'll be glad you did.|||Honestly its probaly not worth fixing, but if you did fix it you would need to cut out all of the rust by replacement pans and cut them down to fit and weld them in. I would guess 300 dollars to do it yourself ,around 1000-1200 to have someone do it.|||Best thing is to find an oem patch panel from a reputable company that specializes in buick restoration and have it fitted and welded in place. Any good body shop can do it.

How to install window motor and wiring on 1999 buick regal?

I need to install a new motor and wiring in the driver side door of a 1999 buick regal any help?|||The wiring itself will be a pain because you need to run from the fuse box to the inside of the door. Many times you don't really need to replace the wiring, just the motor. And many times you might have to buy a new wiring harness...so its really a rarity for the wiring to be bad on an 11 year old car. Buy a regulator with a motor and get a Haynes or Chilton manual and get it done in your driveway. save you about 200 dollars. The motor should fire up after the new regulator is installed. Just be careful to line the window up properly...you can do it by raising the window while it is still loose in the clamps and tighten the clamps down once it is to the point where you are satisfied. or if it is a through the glass design, put it through the same holes it came out of on the new glass. the position of the regulator will line it right up

What is the average lifespan of a '96 Buick Regal?

Mine has 183,600 miles on it, and I'm starting to plan on getting a new car. My main question is, how long would you say it has on average?

I know that the life of a car depends on how well it is kept and maintained, but how long do '96 Buick Regals last on average, with regular oil changes and fluid checks?|||it is not uncommon for the buick's to go over 500,000 miles.

I had a 91 LeSabre with 365,000 miles on it in 2001. Gave it to daughter who still drives it. not sure how many miles are on it now but would estimate at least 425,000. all without major problems just normal maintenance.|||Yours has already beaten the average.

I'm assuming it has the original engine and transmission - keep in mind, if you know a decent mechanic, you could probably keep it running indefinitely.

It is getting on the old side though - keep driving it carefully, and keep it maintained, and you might be able to squeeze another couple grand out of it.|||less than 11 years. time for a new ride.|||An American car can double that mileage with no problem if maintained properly.

How can I remove those buttons and replace the light bulbs which I assume are under there ?

What size or type of light bulbs are they.

We have a regular Park Avenue with a 3.8 L V6 Engine .

Thanks for all your help !!!

David|||I'm not sure on that specific car, but on a lot of cars they use small light bulbs that you can buy at Radio Shack. Problem is that you really have to take the old ones out and match them up at the store. I'm sure you don't want to do that with your car apart (unless you have another car that you can take) or just take a similar car apart at the junkyard and use that bulb for comparison purposes.

Will a faulty heater core cause my 1997 buick regal to overheat?

Hello all,

I have a1997 buick regal and noticed that the heater does not work. I also noticed my car making a boiling noise when I returned home today. I opened the hood and the car is overheating, resevoir tank very HOT about to boil over. However, the temperature gauge never made it past the 1/2 way mark.Any and all help will be appreciated, Thanks!|||it is possible your heater core has no fluid in it for heat to transfer. you may have a small leak, and the heater core is the high point, if the heater was in the open position the antifreeze could drain out first, and no, a heater core would not cause your car to overheat, I believe you have a leak somewhere, and your radiator is low on antifreeze, and blowing steam into your overflow, this will bring the fluid left in it to a boil sooner or later. often times a water pump bearing gets wear, and underneath your water pump is a weep hole, and it will let anti freeze through, this is a indication of impending water pump failure, you need to get underneath or have someone inspect you cooling system, as this is just one guess. In the morning, after the radiator is cool, open the cap and add water for now (if you have a leak, at 10.00 bucks a gallon or more, you can waste a lot of money really quick. If your radiator is really low, do not drive the car, your heads may be out of anti freeze already, and lack of fluid can damage and crack the head first. Its clear you have a problem, just not what it is yet. and if your overflow tank is staying full, then your cap is bad also so replace this as soon as you can, dont drive the car unless you are sure its full of water or antifreeze, its easy to get a big pocket of air, and overheating can happen even if the temp gauge does not, because the guage sensor is in the block, which may have fluid, but if there is no fluid in the heads, they can crack. or blow the head gasket. Check the oil too, make sure it is clear, clean oil, and not milky or foamy.

NEVER ADD COLD WATER TO A OVERHEATED MOTOR, ALWAYS LET THE MOTOR COOL, and its always a good time to change the thermostate when doing the water pump, and inspect all belts and hoses, including heater hoses, thourougly and replace anything that looks old, or is cracked or has weird bulges pushing out, or a fat section of hose, that looks odd compared to the others.|||If your cooling system is low on water (which is probably what's wrong here) the water pump cannot circulate the coolant, including into the heater core. Also, there's no coolant running against the temp probe fooling into thinking the temp is low. Flush and fill before you warp a head.

you can get it turbocharged

you can probably get a twin turbo kit

and then theres NOS

but a turbocharger is great with a supercharger

basically when your on the line the supercharger helps get you off the line faster when the turbo would be idling, then once u take off the turbo would kick in when the supercharger normally wouldnt be doing anything, BEST COMBO

go to google and type in turbocharger, and stuff like that.

also you can upgrade your air flow, your air intake... mm possibly a racing chip. look on google for upgrades

What kind of Motor oil to use for Buick LeSabre?

I have a 1997 Buick LeSabre, i juts bought it, don't know what type of motor oil to use. 5W or 10W, any difference? Also, is Synthetic motor oil any good?|||10w40 is what you want|||It should say in the owners manual, and on it oil cap, what oil should go into that engine.

5W30 is a thinner oil than 10W30, and is (theoretically) more energy conserving.|||Depends on what engine is in your car. If it is the 3.1L/3.4L then GM suggests 5w30, if you have the 3.8L then 10w30 is what it takes. Synthetic oil is always a welcome addition to any engine (except for a new or rebuilt because it doesn't allow proper "break in")

What size speakers are in my 1999 Buick Park Avenue Ultra?

What size speakers are in my 1999 Buick Park Avenue Ultra? If I replaced them with new speakers would I need a new amp? It already has a factory amp but idk how strong it is. If i needed a new one, how powerful would it need to be?|||The speaker sizes that go in your car, along with their location are:

Front: 4" x 6"

Rear: 6" x 9"

Dash: 4" x 6"

Rear deck: 6" x 9"

These are the speaker sizes for the 1999 Park Avenue.Best of luck.

How do I remove rear and door speakers in a 2000-2005 Buick Lesabre?

How do I remove rear and door speakers in a 2000-2005 Buick Lesabre? Any help is appreciated!|||Remove the door panel. Some Lesabre's in that period had speakers screwed in, while some had them riveted in to the door. If screwed in, unscrew. If riveted in, drill out the rivets, making sure to use the smallest drill bit that will still get the job done. This is to be sure you can reuse the screw holes if you're installing new speakers in the same location.

91 buick century battery drains and wont start, only jump off will work, wont start back without jumping off?

what is causing my 91 buick century car to drain my battery. you can jump it off and when you cut it off it wont start back. something is draining the battery. would you know what my problem is.|||yes, your problem is more than likely just an old battery, or a battery that has been drained too many times. The solution is you need a new battery.

If you cant afford a new battery, the other option is to buy sulfuric acid and distilled water. First shake the battery around real good to get any material in the battery loose. then pop the drain plugs and pour the old acid out of the battery. then refill the battery with a half and half mixture of acid and distilled water, then charge for a couple hours and see if it holds charge.

Be very careful the acid will burn holes in your clothes and if on your skin long enough will do the same to your skin.

It is not likely your alternator, because if you can jump start the car and remove the jumpers, and the car keeps running it means the alternator is producing enough power to run the car, but as soon as you turn it off you can not start it again, because the battery doesn't hold charge.

If the car dies soon after disconnecting the jumpers, without you turning it off then it would be the alternator.|||bad alternator|||you might have a bad alternator thats not charging. take car to autozone or other car parts store and they car run a battery/charging system test|||Have the battery charged fully first.

then have the alternator tested. it should be over 13.4 volts at idle|||if everything works ok while its running then the alternator is ok sounds like a bad ground cable , when you boost it to start you are getting ground from the boost source once started the alternator provides both hot and ground , otherwise the battery is shot which would explain why you need a boost to start but I would start with a good cleaning of the cable ends . if this doesant work have a mechanic or part store test the batt/chargeing system it only takes a minute most auto part stores will do it free|||I assumed that your battery is in good condition. Check your alternator, one of the components of the car's charging system. It might be the culprit.

She is a 1993 Buick Lasabre custom. 3.8L V6 engine. She runs great, no mechanical problems that I am aware of, but I want to know how much horsepower she has. Anybody have an answer for me?|||A 93 will have 170 HP. Enough to get around, but it doesn't have blinding speed.|||about 170hp, probably a little less now since it's older. this site can show you some more info, the next time you're curious just do a google search on your car's specs:

Is it possible for my V6 Buick to only have 3 spark plugs?

I have a 2003 Buick Century - I bought 6 spark plugs thinking 1 per cylinder... WELL - I opened the hood and saw 6 of the spark plug wires coming out of the distributor; 3 attach in the front of the engine block (normal and easily accessible) and the other 3 go way behind the block and literally out of reach. Is it possible it has just 3 plugs (2 per cylinder)? There's literally no way to change the 3 on the opposite side, if that's in fact where they are. This is really strange...any help would be appreciated.|||I'm sorry to say that you do need all 6 plugs and your other 3 plugs are in the back of the block. No 6-cyl engine would fire properly in sequence using only 3 plugs. Having the plugs in the back on the engine is one setback of a transverse mounted V-6 engine, but FEAR NOT, there is hope. There is a trick to accessing these rear plugs making things a LOT simpler for you. Your engine can and will tilt forward for access to these plugs. Remove the top engine mounts. Under the hood, at the front of the engine bay you will see 2 large brackets mounting your engine to your radiator brace. They are each attached to a connecting link that looks like a wish-bone using 2 bolts each. Remove these bolts and the wish-bone link connecting them. This allows your engine to tilt forward, but the engine will not drop out for it still has lower mounts too. Then, you can do 2 things...1) Park on an incline with the front of the car facing down and rock the car until the engine tilts forward, or, 2) using one or both of your engine lifting brackets (I think there's one on your left front mount and one directly in front of the alternator, black metal bracket with an eye-hole) attach a rope, ratchet strap or anything to pull the engine forward and hold it there, attaching it to a radiator brace or something stable (hell, tie it to a tree if you have to). This gives you more room than the rocking method. You'll find that by doing this, you'll have access to a lot of rear engine components like the heater hoses, valve covers, O2 sensor, and of course the spark plugs. Once you're done, you can undo your engine tilting attachment, hold the engine back into it's original position, and reinstall your engine mount wish-bones and bolts. It's really simpler than I may have described it, but this is how a service tech at a dealership would change your plugs, and pretty straightforward once you get the hang of it.|||Most of the time they need to be accessed from UNDER the car.|||Think about what you said, V six, 3 spark plugs. Does not make sense. Look at the V. That is what you engine looks like with one side of the v at the front of your car and one side to the back. It is a FWD car so the crankshaft is perpendicular to the car. You have to access the plugs from under the car and can be a major pita.|||Unless I'm mistaken your vehicle you'll need to remove the intake manifold to gain access to the plugs.

Note: If you have to rock the engine forward it would be best to take it to a shop or local mechanic ... I had thought it was similar to a v6 eclipse which requires you to take the manifold off.

In any case you could just purchase a Haynes or Chilton's manual and it will tell the procedure on how to change the plugs ... pick one up at local parts store and be done with it!

Cheers! mate.|||You see the two "dogbone" aluminum looking mounts on both side of the engine? They connect up close to the radiator.

Take those loose and you can by pushing back on the car (in park) rock the engine forward. On one of those pushes have someone push the parking brake to hold the car where the engine is held forward.

You can now access the rear plugs easier. You will still need an exrension an possibly a swivel to get to them. Put some dielectric grease inside the boot before reinstalling it on the plug to make it easier since you won't be able to push real hard on them. Plus next time they'll come off much easier.|||your v6 sits side ways, 3 cylinders in the front, 3 in the back, to change the rear spark plugs use a 1/4 racket with a 3/8 adapter with the 3/8 spark plug socket, pull one wire off at a time then reach bach there with the racket and spocket and remove spark plug|||thats the dumbest question i have ever seen on here lmao|||the motor is in it side ways so the other plugs are on the back of the motor witch is in between the fire wall|||Eautorepair.net has online access to service manuals for a small fee---procedure will be in there. Or pick up a Chilton or Haynes manual at a local parts store. Good thing to have if you're doing your own repairs.

Is there a battery connected to the tire inflation on a Buick Lucerne?

The low tire emblem keeps coming up on the dash and the tires are inflated right. Someone said there is a battery you have to replace on this Buick?|||not so much a battery you have to replace as much as reset this indicator after tire rotation, etc. no, there is no inflation mechanism, only a pressure sensor of a sort connected to the whole system of the vehicle.

basically, this system 'measures' the diff between all the tires for proper inflation and when you change the tires, it 'sees' the difference.

in my faqthers hilander, you have to do a strange sequesnce like hold down the odometer reset while turning the car on and off again, or some such. it might be inb your manual or you can call your local dealrship on how to reset this.|||i suppose it could be true, but i doubt it. the story of the toyota highlander is acurate and almost every time my father gets his tires rotated, they forget to reset the thing and it does exaclty what you describe here.

How can you manually unlock a buick enclave (by myself and without keys)?

What are the biggest rims you can put on a 2006 Buick Lucerne?

What is causing this 1998 Buick Regal to stall out?

This Buick recently had the engine rebuilt (about a year ago). Of course, the check engine light remains on constantly. Is this normal?

Also, I have noticed that the car sometimes stalls out while driving. Perhaps there could be a large number of possibilities, but what is likely to be causing the car to stall out? It has an automatic transmission, of course. I think it has the 3.8 V6 engine.|||Who rebuilt the engine it should still be under some kind of warranty I know mine is I had it rebuilt in November.

No it is not normal for the check engine light to be on and a number of things could be causing it to stall while driving. If you have to wait a while before it will start again it could be an ignition coil, you could have MAF sensor trouble, bad electrical connection somewhere, bad crank or cam position sensor, and some other potential trouble.

Go to a local parts store and have the codes checked to see what codes the computer is throwing to cause the check engine light to be on, and this may help narrow your search for the problem of the stalling.

To Wilvin that is the speed limiter that is doing that on your car, or the rev limiter and it is normal for them to do that when you drive that fast no mechanical problem there it is the darn electronics limiting you.

By the way i would look for a truck with less miles on it than that 356k ford.|||I have a 1999 Buick Regal. Same V6 engine (not sure about the amount of liters, but it is probably 3.8 too). It stalls when I'm accelerating too. It also stalls every time I hit 110 mph and drops back to 105 mph. (yeah, I drive that fast). At first, we thought it was transmission issues. Changed the transmission fluid, but the problem is still there. Don't know exactly what to do. I know if helps if I drive less aggressively.

Car isn't blowing heat or ac and not making any sounds. Any shop names you know of that I should take it to that specializes in this. Thanks|||First you need to get your dash blower fan fixed since it should come on no matter what other problems you have. Sometimes the fan resistor pack will blow out and the fan will only work on the highest speed setting. That is an easy job and the fan resistor can be replaced under the dash. Otherwise, there may be a blown fuse or your fan blower motor may have failed. Check out these professional shops near you:

http://www.iatn.net/shopfinder/|||Heater core if that is it, it usually really expensive to fix. An option is to have them cap it off, so that you have time to save money up to fix it, thats what I had to do. Im not in VA sorry. It is a bisic thing to repair or cap off.|||Just take it to any Mech. its a relativly easy fix, most of them can do it, if not find a dealer and be ready to pay an arm and a leg to fix it. Or you can do it yourself. (%26lt; alot cheaper that way) hit up Napa, get the parts, its like 4 bolts you have to remove, most of hte time ther right on top, it lifts right out, its like a mini turbine like fan, unplug the plugs, drop the new one in, bolt it down, plug it back in, your done. nice and easy.|||your heater is 2 systems, the electrical part that is the fuse, resistor, blower motor and switch that actually makes the air flow and the heater core that has hot water from the cooling system, the 2 work together but are not the same, if its not blowing its the blower motor side, most likely the blower module/resistor or the motor itself, any dealer could check this for you quickly and tell you exactly what it cost for fix it.|||yes it could be a fuse it is not the heater core or you would have anti freeze on the passenger floor if it isnt a fuse then it is the heater control or the blower motor also if the core was bad it would blow air but fog up your winshield|||if the blower is,nt working then your dad could be right about the fuse. if it,s not blowing then maybe the blower went out or the switch on the dash went bad.

I did have a buick lasabre with the same engine that had a lot of trouble starting because of bad spark plugs believe it or not. How is the outside front brake pad on a 01 buick lasaber held on?

What does an air conditioner clutch look like in a Buick?

I need an air conditioner clutch for a 1992 Buick La Sabre. What does it look like and how much is the part? I was told it is an expensive repair. I hear a rattle sound and my air conditioner doesn't cool. I had freon put it in but it leaked out.|||A clutch will not leak out your freon, it basically turns your compressor on and off. The compressor is cylinder shaped, has two a/c lines running from it and is on the drive belt. The clutch is actually on the end of the compressor, the side holding the belt. Look under the hood for a belt diagram, it may point out which is the compressor (a/c). It may need a new compressor all together and may be cheaper to replace it as whole and not just the clutch. You must find where the freon is looking from first, or your just throwing away money, a shop can do a leak test with dye and a black light to find the leak. Good luck.

When a buick lasabre headlight goes out, do I replace the whole headlight or just the light bulb?

2004 Buick Lasabre Question:

when a buick lasabre headlight goes out, do I replace the whole headlight or just the light bulb?

Is it prefered to let a mechanic do this or is it simple for a nonmechanic to do?

What is the average price to replace the light? Thanks.|||You can change just the bulb on your car. The cost will vary depending on what bulb it takes as there are many different styles, but it will definitely be more than $2. It will probably be closer to $10. This is something you could do yourself. If you get a bulb at a parts store they might change it for you if you ask them to, some parts stores do that.|||if you're able to replace just the bulb then do that yourself and you're looking at about $2 or less for the bulb.

if you find that you have to replace the headlight then you're looking at about $89 and up for the headlight (depends on where you buy it) and probably another $40-$50 for labor. If you have experience changing out a headlight, then I'd do it myself but if you have never done it before then you may want to hire someone to do it and watch them so when the other light goes you can do it yourself.

We found a real nice one at a local salvage yard and they told us we could save A LOT of money if we could take it out ourselves, soo I need some expert advice on how to go about taking out the dash and steering column the easiest way possible. I have some knowledge of doing things like this. I just got done removing the entire interior of her car, like the seats and carpet. I even took out the headliner without much trouble. The reason I am going about all this, is, I have to change the color of the interior, because I needed to replace the front and back seats as they were not in the best of condition and I could not find any that was the same color as hers. But I did get a VERY good price on the seats, carpet, headliner back window carpet and side panels. All I have left now is the dash and steerng column! So please, someone out there, help me with some easy pointers! Thanks!|||Tackeling a dash is a major undertaking.. not to metion the steering column... you really must be a decent mechanic...

1st you are dealing with wire harnesses and speedo cables and mounting screws everywhere... but as you remove the dash take time to mark your wires where they go and reatach them in reverse order that you remove them... the first thing to remove is the steering coulmn.. as it will make removing thte dash easier...

under the hood you will find a link attching the colum to your rack %26amp; pinion.

there are four mounting boult under the dash that hold a saddle that supports the column.. it will be understandable as you go along.

remove your insturment cluster after that and start undoing your wires under the dash and in the glove compartment..

again mark everything and note there postion...

alot af common sense will go along way ..just take your time and you can do it..|||one note: make sure your wheels are straight and the steering wheel is straight also.. this will help greatly when you stab the steering clmn back into the rack and have the steering wheel situated properly so that it isn't crooked when driving down the road.

again Good luck.

I have a 99 grand am whitch has a bunch of window problems first the window motor on the driver side quit working then the passenger side quit a month and a half later and then the sunroof quits working and its been about 2 months what I want to know about is the motor for the sunroof. I can get one from a 96 Buick Rivera will it fit my car and work?|||The 1999 grand am sunroof motor number is 89023553 and I could find a number for the 1996 rivera because it only comes as an assembly but they do look very close in the picture but instead of pulling it out of the 1996, check if you can get an aftermarket rebuilt one or cross reference the first number that I gave you and see what you can come up with and good luck.

How to remove power seats from a 96 buick riviera?

I have a 96 Buick Riviera that I bought for 600$ that was water damaged. I so far has fixed ever thing in the car except the power seats. The driver seat (the one I sit in) allow me to recline the seat but does not allow me to move it forward, and the passenger seat don' do either. I was told if I remove the seats I could get a better look at the problem, but I don't know how to remove the seats.. Please help!!! Thanks Much.|||Find the wiring harness for the motor under the seat and disconnect it completely from the seats. Then there are a minimum of 4 bolts or nuts that hold the tracks to the floor, 8 bolts or nuts if a "split" seat arrangement...take your time and be thorough...the bolt or nuts will be at the four corners of each seat, may be under the carpet.
