What is the best transmission for 1995 buick lesabre?

The transmission went out in my buick and i want to know if there is more than one type that it could be replaced with.|||You will have to replace it with a 4T60-E since it is shifted electronically by the pcm .Be sure it was mated to a 3.8 and the differential ratio matches the one you pull out.You can have a GM dealer ck the vin and decipher what ratio the car came with. Also 4T65-E trans will not work because the line pressure control is pcm operated and a 4T60-E is mechanically controlled by a vacuum modulator.|||I would say it would probably be wise to stick with the stock application transmission for your vehicle.|||Not in '95, all 4T60E. They made a 4T65E and 4T65E-HD, but those were in the newer GM's (1997 on). There is a tag on the back of the transmission, on the passenger side with two large letters, followed by a series of smaller letters and numbers. You want to find another 4T60E with the same two large letters on the tag (YG for example, this is the gear ratio). car-part.com will help you determine what other years and vehicles will fit, but be sure to check the two letter code on the tag before buying. Good luck...
